Product Details

We are pleased to offer this rare pair of 1862 original Heinrich Siebert framed pastel portraits. They are both signed and dated in the lower right in gold ink; "H. Siebert, 1862." These half-length portraits depict a well-dressed gentleman wearing a medal, most likely the Royal (1806-1918) Wurtemberg Military Order of Merit while the woman is wearing a green dress holding a shawl, most likely members of the aristocracy. Background shows a red curtain draped to one side and a view of the river in the distance on the other. The wood and gilt frames are original to the portraits and very heavy. The glass on one portrait appears to have been replaced at some point therefore frame with woman is heavier than the other.

Dimensions: Frame: 21” high by 17.5” wide; Oval Image: 17” high x 13.5 wide”

Condition Report: Portraits and frames are in good antique condition with some wear as expected from age. Nothing significant, we only mention for accuracy.
