Custom Stag Steel Knife, Leather Snakeskin Sheath & Antler Stand, Signed
We are pleased to offer this handsome custom 19" knife with stag handle, sheath and stand signed and dated by artist; Angel, Olympia Washington, 12/02. The carbon steel blade is signed on the bottom close to the guard and is shaped from a modern double-cut file and then blued (hence the black tone). The guard is brass with red and black spacers behind it. Handle is a polished branch of shed stag (deer antler that was shed after the rut, and hence weathered on the ground) and has finger notches (grip) on the underside of the handle. The two end caps of the handle, covering the hollow center of the stag, appear to be old ivory, although they might be unbleached polished stag, or possibly some sort of plastic. Same spacer materials -- red and black vulcanized fibre. The pedestal stand is a complete antler of shed stag, also bleached and affixed to a domed metal alloy base that is signed by Angel with a black sharpie. The sheath was assembled from two types of leather; the white appears to be deerskin and the brown looks to be some sort of snakeskin. Although both might be simulated. It is stitched and riveted together very nicely and signed with a black sharpie. Knife measures 19” overall and the blade is 12 ¼” long . Condition: Excellent with no wear.
