Antique Zanzibar Teak Wood and Ornate Brass Studded Dowry Chest, Made in Italy
We are pleased to offer this rare stunningly gorgeous teak wood and brass studded dowry chest with ornate copper overlay, circa 1800’s. This fabulous piece of history is made of solid heavy planks and ornately decorated with brass studwork in geometric designs and engraved copper with beautiful patina.
The craftmanship and details on this old 19th century storage chest are exquisite featuring three double handled lower hand cut thick dovetailed drawers, large heavy brass front lock hasp, brass carrying handles to the sides, clean interior storage reservoir with lidded secret candle till compartment to the right side and hinge lid that is engraved in the front center “Made in Italy.”
Dimensions: 43” wide x 18.5” deep x 18.5” high; each drawer is 12-3/8” wide x 15.75” deep x 4” high.
A magnificent statement piece that’s certain to be the focal point of any room and cherished for many years to come.
Condition Report: Great antique condition with normal wear and imperfections as expected from age and use. Each drawer has one handle missing and there are no keys available. Please refer to all pictures as they depict the actual item you are considering.
